WHERE TO EAT

These are the places we recommend

RIVER CRUISE

One of the best ways to discover Porto is to board a cruise. On board a magnificent Barco Rabelo, live one of the most traditional experiences of the city: a 50 minute boat ride between the breathtaking shores of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. We sell tickets at the hotel for boats, wine cellars visits and for the touristic bus.

BRIDGE CLIMB

The most secret view of the city, open to the public for the first time. In the company of a guide and with all safety equipment, even those with vertigo can climb one of the most iconic buildings in Porto.

VINTAGE TRAM

Our city proudly still has in use the old electric tram. Although it has been across the whole city for a century, currently only 3 lines are still in use (2 in the city centre and 1 alongside the river, finishing in the Atlantic Ocean). It´s a different way of meeting the city!

Hotel is conveniently located close to everything. It does not have parking however, 350 metres away, there's a car park recommended by the hotel and we left the car and moved around Porto. It's a comfortable, clean hotel - excellent value for money. For what you pay you have good services, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly and although it's an old building it has charm. We highlight the attention of the very kind reception boy, pending everything was right and showing the sights.

LELLO & IRMÃO BOOKSTORE

Opened in 1881, Livraria Lello & Irmão is one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. Situated on Rua das Carmelitas, the interior is stunning, with its carved wood, stained glass and characteristic staircase. The decorated walls create a magical atmosphere.

D. LUÍS I BRIDGE

Designed by Teófilo Seyrig, disciple of Eiffel, the Bridge of D. Luís I or Ponte Luiz I, inaugurated in 1886, is a bridge in metallic structure in iron with two boards, built between the years 1881 and 1888, connecting the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, separated by the river Douro.

PORT WINE CELLARS

Located on the other side of the Douro River, on the Gaia quay, due to the more favorable climate for Port wine conservation, they have always been closely linked to the English families, fans of this wine, who transported it to various parts of the world.

TABERNA DO CARREGAL

Just 100m from us, Taberna do Carregal is hidden in a basement, with the ceiling covered with huge wooden beams and stone walls. Open since 1932, it is characterized by its rustic decor and is lit by old-fashioned side lamps. With a family atmosphere and warm service, this tavern is distinguished by the regional Portuguese cuisine.

O PAPAGAIO

This restaurant is located in the heart of Porto, next to St. António Hospital, is open from Tuesday to Sunday. This restaurant bets on the quality of its food as well as the friendliness of the service to the customers. This house is known for its magnificent grilled meats, most of the dishes are cooked on the grill, where you can choose between the best meat or the most varied types of fish. 300m from the hotel door.

A TASQUINHA

In this space bets on the traditional Portuguese food and the environment is to match. Inaugurated in 1975, with more than 40 years of existence, the room is rustic, the family service and the food cooked in its most natural form, with all the wisdom of the oldest customs, but duly adapted to the current trends. It´s 350m away from the hotel.
